Take Wing And Soar Productions Celebrates 15th Anniversary Gala Celebration

On Saturday, May 5th 2018, Take Wing And Soar Productions (TWASInc), an award winning, Harlem-based, professional Theater Arts Corporation held its Fifteenth Anniversary Gala Celebration, the TAKE WING AND SOAR SPIRIT OF EXCELLENCE AWARDS, at Columbia University's Lerner Hall Roone Arledge Auditorium.
Honorees included the distinguished veteran classical actress Ellen Holly, Broadway producers Stephen C. Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey of Front Row Productions, classical actress Condola Rashad, who recieved the Jane White Woman of Excellence Theatre Award and classical actor Timothy D. Stickney, who recieved the Earle Hyman Award for Excellence in Classical Acting.

Following a record number of nominations and votes, winners have been announced for the 2019 BroadwayWorld Phoenix Awards, brought to you by TodayTix!! The nominees were set, audiences voted, and now we get to recognize local theatres and performers for their outstanding achievement!
Regional productions, touring shows, and more were all included.
The Harlem Shakespeare Fesival's All-Female OTHELLO presented by Southwest Shakespeare Company picked up three awards:

HARLEM RENAISSANCE 100 Goes Virtual As Second Phase of the Celebration Kicks Off

Organizers today announced the second phase of the Harlem Renaissance 100, a multi-year celebration to commemorate the milestone 100th Anniversary of the Harlem Renaissance and the artistic brilliance born from that movement.
This second phase will see Harlem Renaissance 100 go online with virtual salons including Harlem Shakespeare Festival's Classical Lab Reading Series Virtual production of The Importance of Being Earnest.
The Harlem Shakespeare Festival in partnership with the Harlem Cultural Collaborative present THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, set in 1920’s Harlem.
With high style, dynamic dialogue and the music that changed a nation, Oscar Wilde's fun-loving and hilarious comedy of manners is brought to life by director Kevin Connell, sound designer David D. Wright and a cast of nine Classically Trained Actors of Color who will provide us with a glimpse of America's black bourgeoisie in a time known as the Harem Renaissance.
